We recommend contacting us as early as possible to discuss your requirements. Early orders help secure availability and allow us to plan production for the upcoming season.

Rootstock & Growing

What is the difference between Bruno and Bounty rootstock?

Bruno rootstock is known for strong, vigorous growth and is widely used for establishing healthy, productive kiwifruit vines. Bounty rootstock may be preferred in wetter conditions and areas prone to excess moisture. We are happy to discuss which option best suits your orchard.

Can you help me choose the right rootstock?

Yes. We can discuss your site conditions, growing goals, and orchard requirements to help determine whether Bruno or Bounty rootstock is the best fit.

Can I order small quantities for trial blocks or replacement vines?

Yes. We supply both large commercial orders and smaller quantities for trial blocks, replacement vines, and grafting projects.

When are rootstock plants ready?

Availability depends on the variety and season. Plants are supplied at an appropriate stage for successful orchard establishment. Contact us for current timelines.

Certification & Industry Requirements

Are your rootstocks KVH-certified and inspected?

Yes. All rootstock plants from Davidson Horticulture are KVH-certified and inspected by AsureQuality, ensuring traceability and disease-free material.

Why is KVH certification important?

KVH certification helps ensure plant health, traceability, and disease-free propagation material. It is an important part of maintaining New Zealand's kiwifruit industry standards.

Do I need to be Zespri-licensed to plant your rootstocks?

Commercial kiwifruit growers in New Zealand must be licensed under Zespri requirements. We supply rootstock that meets the requirements for Zespri-licensed orchards, including Gold3 (G3).
